Art is not something people view as an object that will never disappear like with posting images on Instagram or stories for all of their friends to see on Snap Chat. Art is viewed without thought of how long it will stay since it is not a pixilation but an object that could be held, put at a distance, touched, and/or seen in everything. Claudia Bitran changes this ideology, instead of viewing art as art and pixel images as two different concepts, she combines these two mediums into one in each of her pieces. Similar to many artists in the art world, she started off in traditional art with painting, drawing, art history classes, and of course, electives on the side.

Titanic remake, Claudia Bitran

Before entering a new stage of her art career, Claudia Bitran was a painter, traditional paintings but she wanted a change, not the same boring schedule that she had completed daily. To start this change she entered a tv show that imitates celebrities and she was picked as a Brittney Spears imitator. This was an interesting way to change things up and continued her art works but in a different unique way. Within the show she had made covers of actual music videos that Brittany had done using her art to create her outfits and the videos themselves of her dancing. The way that she utilizes her creative styling and previous years in art to combine art and the videos is quite fascinating. Before I had the chance to look upon her pieces and listen to her talk about her work and thinking behind everything she does, I wouldn’t have thought about all of the work and creative juices put into the videos.

Even when she had finished the show, she continued to make her art pieces similarly to the videos but incorporating more of her traditional skills. Here she used social media as inspiration in a different way than what I would expect, she highlighted the parts of being young that is not so memorable or wants to be remembered. The traditional part is painting the scene over and over to make it a moving a picture, like stop motion. A different stop motion since she paints over the scene each time a body part moves, or an object moves, basically any form of motion. Each piece of work is of a young girl who drank too much and is either puking or passed out. It was interesting how she decided to choose this moment that’s posted on social media to solidify an idea from. She did want more people to notice the aspects that are wanted to be or are forgotten to bring attention to it. Its an interesting story to paint and record although the realism of each one is amazing, the detail make it more life-like besides the real moment that’s depicted.

Amongst each video she has done titanic was the biggest role playing and creating each scene from titanic in her budget but with a new perspective. Each of her pieces create a new perspective for her audiences to look at, a new way of viewing a moment of time. With each new project that she took on she wasn’t truly afraid of change, no matter how big it was.
